Strawberry Hill Museum & Ctr

The museum is housed in a 1887 mansion build for the Scroggs family. The beautiful historic site in Kansas City is build with under the architecture of the Victorian Queen Anne Style and it’s a landmark to see. After the Scroggs family perished the sisters of st. Frances opened an orphanage that was in service for 66 years. After the closure the property was bought by the Strawberry Hill Ethnic Cultural Society to create the museum that is here today. The tea room is housed inside the museum and is open on the weekends of the summer season and a few weekends around the Christmas holidays. The menu is mainly focussed on deserts & tea. A very good combination obviously! The room is also available for private parties like baby showers and little princes tea parties.

The Sassy Lady Antiques and Tea Room

Another historic home dedicated to more quiet times. The Sassy Lady House became a landmark in Burden in 1876. Nowadays it is a home for a vintage store, antique shop, cafe and tea room. With breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday, there is always something going on. The venue is also listed on the Cowley County Quilting Tour as one of the participating “quilts” to honor to the Appalachian heritage. This is done by having a painted quilt hung over the barn. The Quilting trail started in Ohio and has spread to over 48 states and over 7000 quilts participating.
